Creating Effective Display Advertising

Here are 3 useful tips for creating effective Display adverts. Display ads can increase sales, online visibility and return on investment, but with text, images and animation to consider they can be a little intimidating at first. Once mastered, display ads will prove to be a valuable asset in your marketing strategy.

What is Display Advertising?

Display advertising is a type of online advertising that comes in several forms, including banner ads, rich media and more. Unlike text-based ads, display advertising relies on elements such as images, audio and video to communicate an advertising message.

Display advertising has become a very successful and popular concept amongst small and medium businesses as well as larger corporations. So here are three tips you should consider when you’re developing your display advertising campaigns.

Keep it Simple

Avoid having multiple messages in one display advert; keep it clean, simple and easy to read. When you start adding more content and information, it becomes complicated, difficult to read and there is a risk that the key message could be lost and visitors can become disengaged.

Call to Action

Your display ad should contain a clear call to action, the best way to determine just how “clear” your call to action is, is to show your ad to unbiased individuals and see what the first thought is that comes to them.

Your call to action should encourage visitors to take action, i.e. click the advert. When creating calls to action think about your target audience, who they are, what they are interested in and likely pain points they may be experiencing.

Get Creative

Visual content such as images and videos can be far more attractive and engaging than plain text and are more likely to attract the attention of your target audience and lead them to click on the advert.
